Some August News – Summer Camp, Google Music Trends, Last.FM, New Monsoon, Pygmalion Music Festival

Summer Camp is in the process of returning to Chillicothe, IL, after a rather hasty goodbye.

Google releases Google Music Trends, a feature that uses their Google Talk software to track users’ music listening habits similar to Last.FM and combines it with a trends-like approach.  Nothing spectacular, but amusing, I’m sure I’ll try it out once I’ve got my computer up and running again.

New Monsoon will be hitting the Canopy Club in Urbana, IL, on October 11th.  Other upcoming shows include The Lovehammers, Treologic, Sound Tribe Sector 9, Midwest Bluegrass Summit 2, Buckethead, Mustard Plug, Groovatron, and Powerman 5000.

Keep an eye out here at Burning Oak for coverage of the upcoming Pygmalion Music Festival, Champaign-Urbana’s own independent music showcase.  It also appears that My Old Kentucky Blog and You Ain’t No Picasso will be covering the festival as well.  From September 20th-23rd you can catch shows all around town by a large number of extremely talented local and national acts.
