Summer Camp Artist #08 – RAQ

So we’ve got a special Summer Camp Artist Series addition for you today. Number 08, RAQ is a Burlington, VT-based quartet that happens to be playing in Champaign this Sunday night with Family Groove Company (Another Summer Camp Artist to be featured tomorrow). I will most definitely be at this show, since I’m on the guest list (full disclosure here, folks), and since each band is performing two sets promptly at 9pm.

Just to get this out of the way in the beginning of the post, RAQ is pronounced like “rack.” It confused me, too, and headlines like “For those about to RAQ, we salute you” only serve to make it more confusing. But the special treat I mentioned before is that today’s tracks were handpicked by Ed, the band’s archivist. They’re live tracks from a recent March show the band put on. Unfortunately we don’t have any new studio tracks to share, since they’re still being mastered for the upcoming album, but maybe you’ll see them here sometime if we’re lucky. In the meantime, you can get more info from the band’s website and go befriend them on MySpace, too. Here are the tracks, from the March 11th, 2006 show at Higher Ground in South Burlington, VT, right by their hometown. “Circumstance” is supposed to be very representative of the band right now, and I enjoyed Forget Me Not quite a bit.

– Circumstance
– Forget Me Not
– Said and Done

Also everyone remember to come out and support the band in Chicago this weekend and Urbana this Sunday.
