With Halloween concert season coming up soon it seems everyone is getting geared up for their own show plans.\u00a0 My personal plans for Halloween 2009 include Festival 8, however, just a few years back I spent my Halloween at Vegoose in 2005, and managed to catch what turned out to be an amazing show by String Cheese Incident – complete with a nearly half hour long cover of “Thriller” before it was the cool thing to do.\u00a0 It seems that the band was equally happy with the results of their many Halloween shows, because they’re releasing Trick or Treat<\/em> – the Best of String Cheese Incident’s Halloween shows on October 27, 2009.<\/p>\n

It looks like the album is available for preorder on a 2-disc CD<\/a> and well as a vinyl edition<\/a>, and the band will also be releasing a premium edition 9-disc set for the hardcore fans.\u00a0 Curiously enough, the 10\/29\/2005 show in Las Vegas seems to have been snubbed by this release, even though it served as the band’s Halloween show that year.\u00a0 Take a look at the following track listing and press release and scroll down to download and preview some audience-recorded versions of the tracks that will end up on the album:<\/p>\n

“With the one-time constant touring machine otherwise known as The String Cheese Incident slowing their schedule considerably in recent years, fans get a chance to relive the group\u2019s legendary \u201cHulaween\u201d shows on the forthcoming live release, Trick or Treat<\/em>. The two-disc release \u2013 set to hit on October 27, 2009 on CD<\/a>, vinyl<\/a>, and digitally \u2013 is culled from several of these epic shows by The String Cheese Incident. An expanded 9-disc deluxe box set edition of Trick or Treat<\/em>, will also be available in very limited quantity. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Known to perform special concerts comprised heavily of cover tunes each Halloween, Trick or Treat<\/em> offers selections from SCI performances recorded at Atlanta\u2019s Variety Playhouse (1998), Philadelphia\u2019s Electric Factory (1999), Portland\u2019s State Theatre (2000), New York City (2001), Los Angeles\u2019 Shrine Auditorium (2002), Sin City\u2019s Cox Pavillion (2003), and Madison\u2019s Exhibition Center at Alliant Energy Center.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The 9-disc limited edition box set of Trick or Treat<\/em> includes seven complete sets – featuring must-hear renditions of Beatles (\u201cCome Together\u201d), Beastie Boys (\u201cNo Sleep Till Brooklyn\u201d), Grateful Dead (\u201cShakedown Street\u201d), KC & The Sunshine Band (\u201cGet Down Tonight\u201d), Queen (\u201cWe Are the Champions\u201d), and Phish (\u201cThe Wedge\u201d) classics, among many others. The Trick or Treat<\/em> deluxe box set also features brand new artwork from Michael Everett, special commemorative mini-posters from the Hulaween shows, personalized liner notes from the band, a photo booklet by famed rock photographer C.
