Rockin’ The World Cup #07 – Australia

I’ve been looking forward to this Australia post for a couple days now, because it’s a country where not only do I know some of the artists, but I actually really really like the ones I’m going to post on. Australia seems like a place that would be full of rebellion and great music, seeing as it was founded as a penal colony, right? Seems like a decent train of thought to mean, we’ll see. If you’ve never heard these two artists, I sure hope you love em’, they’re both great acts, not just these songs.

The Beautiful GirlsMusic. This band has been a favorite of mine since I caught them opening up for Pepper a few years back in a very small, intimate, Chicago show at The Bottom Lounge. This track is from their 2003 release, Learn Yourself, which I bought for a premium price on-the-spot after hearing their set. Great, great live band, unfortunately they rarely make it here to the U.S.

Xavier RuddLet Me Be. The Australian one-man band with the biggest stack of dijaridoos in front of him that you’ve ever seen. This is one of the greatest chill songs in a long time, and is always a crowd favorite at his shows. Better yet he tours all across the world, meaning Canada, The U.S., Europe, and Australia this summer. That’s pretty darn good compared to most U.S. acts.
