Summer Camp Artist #19 – Fat Maw Rooney

Alright, we’re back for the week with Fat Maw Rooney as the 19th artist in our Summer Camp Artist Series lineup. The group is a 5-piece funkjam ensemble out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and they’ve been around since 1996. The band’s most recent release was End Of The Beginning, and they’re set to release a new album, Horseshoes and Hand Grenades, at some point in the future. They’re set to play on Friday at Summer Camp from 2-3 on the Campground stage.

I’ve got both studio and live tracks for you today, so here it is. Don’t forget to check out FatMawRooney.com and add the band on MySpace. I’ll say right now that I like all of the studio tracks, but the first part of the live show, “Bourbon Street,” and the Encore, “Drums > Stevie Wonder’s Superstition,” are both incredibly good and incredibly long.

  1. Dad

Any band that does a great Little Feat cover (Willin) gets a vote from this guy.
Except…I just listened to the lyrics…why were all those 70’s songs about drugs? Lowell George?? I think was the guy in that band…he didn’t make it either. What was it?, live hard, die young, make a good looking corpse? Whatever, still a great song.

  2. These guys are a lot of fun to watch….Everytime I see them they impress me more and more…..

  3. You’ve been doing a really awesome job with the SummerCamp stuff. I’m sorry I’m gonna miss it this year. I mentioned your band previews on my blog. So, yeah, again… really great job with the coverage.

  4. Het wk 2006 zal door ons worden gewonnen denk ik.

  5. Fat Maw Craig

I just happened upon this page on a google search. This is a very fresh way to promote for the show and it allows the listeners/readers to get to know each band. Good work. Keep it up.

  6. Thanks Craig, it’s always good to hear feedback from the band’s themselves. Lookin’ forward to seein’ you guys at Summer Camp.
